Yet another reason to come visit ACRE/SF
Shout out to Abby Wilcox for including us in her top 10 “Lonely Hearts Tour” on Scout Mob! We also recommend that you check out her very own site. Abby is one of the most talented photographers here in San Francisco.
Breakups wreak havoc on the emotions, especially if it’s a breakup from a long term relationship. In my case, I’ve had to soul search (plus eat a little more chocolate than normal), and since I can’t move into my new loft until February, I’ve done my fair share of couch-surfing (in return for cleaning dishes & making a few spectacular dinners for my amazing supportive friends), and I’ve had some time to visit some of SF’s hotspots that have been on my list for a while. In true living-out-of-my-car fashion, I’ve been calling my heart-healing exploration of the city “The Lonely Hearts Tour:”
1: Pop a squat in Hayes Valley Park with your fav scoop from Smitten – mine is the Pear Caramel on a pizzelle cone.
2: Get a mani-pedi at Silk on Pac Heights! Be proactive and treat yourself to beautiful nails. It’s a confidence booster!
3: Spend a sun-kissed afternoon at Sunday Streets in the Mission, scoping out hot hipsters.
4: Take a trip to Amoeba Records to scour for new LPs, and go for something more on the lines of Destiny Child’s “Survivor” than Beck’s “Sea Change.”
5: Eat a dungeness crab from The Craw Station (use your fingers to douse the meat with butter). Try biting the head off of a crawfish and sucking out the juice. Pretend the crawfish is someone you used to know.
6: Get your aggression out! Hit some golf balls at the Presidio Golf Course overlooking the Golden Gate Bridge.
7: Do a little retail therapy at ACRE/SF in North Beach and simultaneously get your caffeine fix in their café (they serve Blue Bottle Coffee). Their wares ooze sex appeal – you may need something a little sheerer or shorter for your next romp out on the town (check out designer Laugh Cry Repeat).
8: For a night out on the town, start at Club Deluxe in Upper Haight. They serve THE FRESHEST Spa Collins in San Francisco. The bartender – Spiritualee – makes everything in front of you while a local jazz band showers you with mind-cleansing jams. You may even be inclined to dance!
9: Stay for last call at Delirium with the hopes of not going home alone.
10: Remember to smile. It can be hard sometimes, but putting on a brave face is essential during a breakup! Negative energy sucks.
